Built in 1901 and nestled on brownstone row in Washington Heights.The Brownstone was not in a livable condition. The structure endured a fire, the existing stairs were missing steps, and kitchen and bedrooms were located on the third floor in awkward layout. 43Hundred Design team led by Magdalena Dymek completely reconfigured the space to create a duplex and triplex. The St. Nicholas Brownstone will have an addition of one floor and a penthouse. We designed the brownstone while being aware of the beautiful architecture that surrounds us on Amsterdam Ave. Our design will include radiant floor heating, corner windows which allows for continuous view of the street. The penthouse will have a view of a gorgeous green terrace adorned with glass railing. The interior stairs were replaced with metal channel supporting wooden steps and adorned with metal railing.
